Lots of fun and learning on our annual “back to basics” camp A bit different this year. We had the building for Friday night which was great fun. 5th Petts Wood Mascot

Last week saw a new member being invested into the Scouts.  Jumble the Cavapoo! When scout leader Andy joked that if our youngest scout made her dog Jumble a scarf as part of her craft badge he would invest him into the troop it didn’t take her long to rise to the challenge.  After making a tiny maroon scarf with gold trim for the 3 month old puppy, Jumble was invested the following week to the delight of everyone.  …

“This was my first scout camp and will not be my last! We spent six days in Dorset.  In these six days we managed to fit in Monkey World, The Tank Museum, high ropes, a very long hike from Corfe to Swanage, luckily we caught the steam train back to Corfe. Scouts trip to Edinburgh 2014

The Scouts went off to Edinburgh for an Early Summer Expedition during May half term, between 26th – 31st May. They stayed at Bonaly Scout Campsite outside Edinburgh and took part in a wide variety of activities including climbing, archery, a fantastic hike in the Pentland hills, mini Highland Games, White Water Rafting near Aberfeldy, a day in Edinburgh and evening activities on site including a banquet and camp awards evening on the last night!

On Friday evening Liz Sewell presented the Jack Petchey Achievement Award to Paul Horwood and David Sharp, both recognised as Oustanding Achiever’s. Paul and David have been with 5th Petts Wood Scout Group since Beavers, passing through Cubs into Scouts and have been very active and enthusiastic within the Group.
